Gyal Wool Fleece Jacket

Inspired by the traditional Balti men’s robe – called ‘Shuqa’, this jacket is made from handspun and handwoven sheep wool fleece of Ladakh - called ‘Spuruk’. Ladakh and Baltistan were historically and culturally tied through trade, Islam and marriage. One of the Ladakhi queens was a Balti princess called Gyal Khatun. The sleeveless, A-line jacket with hand embroidered flowers is a modern take on the traditional attire.
