Bhumika Deswal, Garment Construction Mentor, Looms of Ladakh Working with Looms of Ladakh has been a pleasure. Deswal Sourcing Solutions has helped the local women learn new traditional and industrial skills, including all the processes involved in garment making, machine operation, pattern making, fabric cutting and stitching along with the final quality checking of the garment. We also gave them practical exposure to dyeing units and sourcing fabrics and trims. After completing this task, I travelled to Ladakh to assist them in setting up their workshop and other industrial operations. We also provided them with surplus fabrics and trims to use as filling and quilting in their garments free of cost. We are also available for consultation through video calls or meetings with Looms of Ladakh. We also assist in pattern making and its provision through courier when required. Additionally, we make sure to do weekly meetings with the organisation to help them solve their problems and take updates on production and help motivate the lovely ladies in their work. It is truly amazing to see how far they’ve come and how much they have learnt and I and my colleagues aim to continue to help them in every possible.
